New Grad Construction Inspector I

This opportunity entails being responsible for conducting on-site construction inspections for projects supporting our clients. Provides inspection services for compliance with plans and specifications, prepares required contract documentation, and follows prescribed Quality Assurance and Quality Control procedures. HNTB is looking for a New Grad Construction Inspector I to join our field crew, and yes, hard hats are included.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent and 1 year of construction experience.
- All required jurisdictional certificates and state requirements.
- Reads and understands plans and specifications.
- Recognizes, documents, and escalates field issues.
- Calculates pay quantities.
- Understands change conditions.
- Understands Microsoft Office Suite and other computer skills at an intermediate level.
- Utah driver's license
Nice To Haves
- Pursuing your Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or Construction Management.
- Previous internship experience in roadway or drainage construction
- Interest in UDOT projects
Responsibilities
- Observes, documents, and verifies work in progress by the construction contractor to ensure compliance with contract documents and plans.
- Confirms procedures are followed and material used conforms to specifications.
- Utilizes engineering inspection practices to perform rudimentary mathematical calculations and measurements of completed work to date.
- Maintains Inspector's daily report of assigned work activities, contactor labor and equipment, quantity of material received and verified.
- Assists in on-site material testing and produces as-constructed sketches as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
