The intern will collaborate with team members to provide engineering support on New Equipment Engineering projects.

  • Work with engineers to accomplish assigned tasks in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Design/study freight car structure and components
  • Analyze maintenance records for design improvements
  • Create drawings, sketches and models to advance projects
  • Review and organize railcar construction data
  • Major(s): Mechanical Engineering
  • Year in school: completed at least 1 year at an accredited college/university
  • Specific course work: Statics, Strength of Materials, AutoCAD, SolidWorks or other 3D modeling.
  • Proven proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Min GPA of 3.0
  • Ability to multitask
  • Detailed oriented
  • Organized
  • Machine shop experience
  • Welding experience
  • Railroad experience
  • ANSYS experience
  • SolidWorks or other 3D modeling experience
  • Able to work independently
  • Eager to learn
  • Aptitude for problem solving, critical thinking, and analytics
