Ready to dive into epic outdoor adventures and make a positive impact on the environment? Look no further than the Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) - the oldest conservation, education, and recreation organization in the USA! Our passion for the outdoors knows no bounds, and we want YOU to be a part of it. As an employee, you'll unlock access to exciting programs, policies, and procedures that empower you to make a real difference. Join the AMC team now and embark on the journey of a lifetime! The New England National Scenic Trail (NET) is a 235-mile hiking trail that travels from Long Island Sound in Connecticut to the Massachusetts-New Hampshire border. One of only 11 National Scenic Trails in the U.S., the route traverses classic New England landscape features across a combination of public and private land: long distance vistas with rural towns as a backdrop, agricultural lands, unfragmented forests, and large river valleys, all within 10 miles of over two-million people. The Massachusetts section of the NET, also known as the Metacomet-Monadnock trail, was created through Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) volunteer efforts in the 1950s and 1960s. Today, AMC manages the NET in Massachusetts in partnership with the Connecticut Forest and Park Association (CFPA), who manages the NET in Connecticut, and the National Park Service (NPS). The Community Outreach Assistant will report to the NET Coordinator in order to support and host various hiking and volunteer events on the NET. They will work with staff at AMC, CFPA, and the NPS to develop community engagement materials and conduct community outreach.
