JOB OVERVIEW • Job Title: Neurosurgeon • Job Type: Locum Tenens • Location: Flagstaff, AZ • Service Setting: Inpatient/Outpatient • Coverage Type: Call Only • Coverage Period: 02/21/2026 – 02/26/2026 • Clinical Shift Schedule: 24-hour call coverage, 7:00a – 7:00a • On-Call Shift Schedule: Continuous 24-hour beeper call • Call Type: Beeper COVERAGE DATES • February 21, 2026 (7:00a) – February 26, 2026 (7:00a) PATIENT INFORMATION • Patient Demographics: Adults • Patient Volume/Census: Approximately 6 patients per day • Admissions: Yes • Rounding: Included as clinically appropriate • Phone Consults: As clinically appropriate • Case Mix: 100% trauma-based neurosurgery cases; non-elective cases FACILITY INFORMATION • No. of Beds in Department: 317 • Trauma Level: Level I Trauma Center • EMR System: Cerner • Office Equipment Available: Standard neurosurgical and hospital equipment • Specialty Backup Available: Multispecialty hospital support • Support Staff Available: Hospital-based clinical and surgical teams • Reason for Coverage: Supplemental trauma coverage PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE • Hospital Privileges Required: Yes • Temporary Privileges Available: TBD • Credentialing Timeline: Approximately 3 days COMPENSATION & BENEFITS • Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Covered REQUIRED PROCEDURES • Trauma neurosurgical procedures • Emergency neurosurgical interventions • Inpatient consults and surgical management
Requirements
- Licenses: Active Arizona license required or proof of application; IMLC accepted
- Board: BC/BE in Neurosurgery required
- DEA: Active DEA required in Arizona
- Certifications: BLS required
- Experience: Experience in Level I trauma setting preferred
- Other Qualifications: Ability to manage high-volume trauma cases

Responsibilities
- Provide 24-hour neurosurgery call coverage for trauma cases
- Perform emergency neurosurgical procedures as required
- Evaluate and manage neurosurgical trauma patients
- Provide inpatient consultations and surgical decision-making
- Collaborate with trauma and multidisciplinary care teams
- Document patient encounters and procedures in Cerner EMR
