About The Position

UPMC Western Maryland is seeking a Board Eligible/Board Certified (BE/BC) general neurosurgeon to join our highly skilled team in Cumberland, MD. This position offers a unique opportunity to practice in a supportive environment with a diverse case mix, primarily focusing on spine surgery (80%) and cranial procedures (20%). The call schedule is favorable, with a 1:3 rotation, and physician assistants (PAs) will assist with first call responsibilities. The anticipated volume for the first year is approximately 150 cases, with the potential to exceed 250 cases once the surgeon is established in the community. The facility is designated as a Level 3 trauma center, providing a robust support system for trauma cases. Mid-level support is available, including a PA or Nurse Practitioner (NP) who will assist in the operating room, help with clinic duties, round on patients, and provide call assistance. UPMC Western Maryland is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including the Mobias Imaging Airo TruCT Mobile CT System, ensuring that our surgical team has access to the best tools available for patient care. Cumberland, MD, is not only a place for professional growth but also offers a rich array of recreational activities. The region is blessed with natural resources, making it an ideal setting for outdoor enthusiasts.
