About The Position

Under the leadership of the Director Tyler Heart Institute, the Neuroscience Program Manager is responsible for program development and management that maintains an interdisciplinary approach to patient centered care. This position is responsible for providing leadership and facilitating all activities and services across the health system regarding care for patients with neurological disorders. The incumbent of this position will coordinate patient care and evaluation, design and align resources to support program initiatives, program development, develop and maintain relationships with internal and external referring physicians, and development of a program database. Additional responsibilities include: acting as a liaison between patients and other healthcare providers; coordinating functions as a resource for patient, families, nursing staff, and physicians; promoting community awareness and education; and incorporating high-quality patient care and community service into daily practice. The Manager maintains oversight of all data bases related to the programs and provides reports as required. The Manager also maintains registered nurse competencies by possessing the skills and knowledge to competently provide appropriate nursing care. The Stroke Coordinator will report to this manager. Important dimensions of this position consist of quality, professional commitment, teamwork, interpersonal skills, safety, good public/customer relations and a broad nursing knowledge.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the management of neurological patients.
  • At least 3-5 years of clinical experience in a hospital environment.
  • Excellent physician relations and consensus-building skills.
  • Ability to provide leadership and gain support without direct authority.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and clinical expertise in managing neurological conditions.
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-directed and results-oriented.
  • Exceptional communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
