About The Position

The Neuropsychologist will assess and treat patients with physical disabilities resulting from chronic and traumatic illnesses and injuries. This role focuses on helping patients adjust emotionally to their disabilities and compensating for cognitive losses. The Neuropsychologist will conduct psychological assessments, provide treatment in individual and group settings, and perform neuropsychological testing to develop appropriate treatment plans. The position emphasizes collaboration, communication, and adherence to the organization's mission and core values.

Requirements

• Current licensure by the State of Illinois.
• Completion of a Ph.D. or Psy.D. from an accredited school of psychology and successful completion of a clinical internship and necessary postdoctoral supervised experience to obtain licensure.
• Knowledge of psychological principles, development, interpersonal dynamics, behavioral modification, and treatment techniques acquired through academic study.
• Approximately two to three years of progressively more complex experience in health-related clinical environments.
• Advanced training and certification in health psychology, rehabilitation psychology, and/or neuropsychology desirable.
• Additional training and experience in neuropsychological assessment, ideally Board Certification in Neuropsychology awarded by the APA, or completion of a two-year Post Doctorate with a concentration in Neuropsychological Assessment from an APA approved institution.
• Interpersonal skills necessary for effective communication with patients, families, physicians, and other health professionals.
• Analytic skills to exercise good judgment and problem-solving in clinical and administrative services.
• Attention to detail, accountability, and flexibility to changing work requirements.

Responsibilities

• Conduct clinical assessments through structured interviews of patients, families, and other relevant parties to formulate individualized treatment plans.
• Select, administer, interpret, and report on psychological and neuropsychological tests to develop treatment plans and counsel patients and families regarding cognitive deficits.
• Employ various structured and unstructured treatment techniques on an individual and/or group basis to address psychological needs.
• Adapt care as appropriate for the age and development of the patient.
• Ensure patient safety in all aspects of service delivery.
• Monitor patient's progress during treatment and revise goals and plans as necessary.
• Alert appropriate treatment team members to critical changes in patient's psychological status.
• Consult with treatment teams regarding psychological and neuropsychological factors affecting treatment implementation and compliance.
• Participate in clinical and programmatic team meetings.
• Contribute to discharge planning by providing community referrals and resources for psychological services and educating family members about the patient's status.
• Complete appropriate documentation of assessments and treatment of patients and families, ensuring compliance with standards for adequacy and timeliness.
• Accurately bill for services and adhere to standards for clinical productivity.
• Evaluate own performance and development in relation to institutional and discipline-specific standards.
• Maintain prescribed organizational competencies and discipline-specific licensure.
• Seek continuing education and certifications to stay current in discipline-specific practices.
• Adhere to ethical codes of the organization and discipline.
• Contribute to the organization's success through appropriate productivity and apply expertise for program planning and evaluation.
• Participate in scholarly activities for professional development and organizational goals advancement.
• Collaborate in applied research in rehabilitation, psychology, and neuropsychology.
• Lecture and teach within the organization and at external professional forums.
• Contribute to academic life by seeking academic appointments, participating in committees, and mentoring students.
