The position involves verifying patient identity, measuring and attaching electrodes, testing electrode integrity, obtaining patient history, ensuring patient safety, and performing various neurodiagnostic tests including EEG, VEP, BAER, SSEP, and others. The role requires thorough documentation, adherence to safety protocols, and effective communication with patients and healthcare providers.

  • Verifies identity of the patient using appropriate identifiers and verifies physician order for procedure.
  • Measures the patient's head and attaches electrodes in accordance with the 10/20 international electrode placement system.
  • Tests functional integrity of electrodes and assures acceptable electrode impedances.
  • Obtains a complete and relevant patient history including medications.
  • Observes all patient safety measures.
  • Removes all electrolyte/gel/collodian and cleans patient's scalp safely and thoroughly at the end of the testing.
  • Logs and submits charges for all studies immediately upon completion.
  • Utilizes appropriate infection control measures.
  • Prepares and provides an accurate technical report for the interpreting physician on all studies completed.
  • Performs bio-calibration before and after each EEG study.
  • Transfers all studies upon completion via the network connection.
  • Measures accurately scalp and applicable electrode sites and applies all necessary recording electrodes.
  • Obtains interpretable, replicable waveforms for various tests.
  • Completes accurately and consistently all prerequisite test screening procedures.
  • Cleans safely and thoroughly all electrolyte from the patients skin surface and/or scalp.
  • Archives all completed/interpreted LTM studies on CD(s).
  • Performs accurate, interpretable special EEG, Evoked Potential procedures.
  • Documents intracranial velocities for Transcranial Doppler studies.
  • Performs accurate and interpretable routine nerve conduction studies.
  • Prepares patient for Autonomic Nervous System testing.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Associate's degree preferred.
  • Previous documented experience in EEG and one of the following neurodiagnostic specialties: EP, NCV, CNIM, LTM, or other appropriate specialty.
  • AHA BLS - Healthcare Provider certification.
  • Basic computer skills.
