  • Continuously review incoming neurophysiologic data, identify significant changes suggestive of neural compromise, and promptly communicate findings and recommended interventions to the surgical and anesthesia teams.
  • Document intraoperative interpretations, events, and recommendations in alignment with VA EHR documentation standards and local privileging requirements.

  • Ensure practice complies with VA policies, VHA directives (e.g., patient advocacy, test result communication, credentialing/privileging), and federal privacy and security statutes.
  • Review relevant preoperative clinical information (neurologic status, imaging, labs as appropriate) to inform monitoring strategy and interpret intraoperative changes in context.
  • Provide intraoperative assessment of neural function via interpretation of neurophysiologic signals and advise the surgical team on clinical significance and recommended actions.
  • Provide overall technical and clinical oversight of IONM services as the supervising Neurophysiologist for technologists in the OR.
