About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our Neuromuscular Medicine team in the ambulatory neurology setting. This is a hybrid position with the opportunity for some remote work, offering a balance of flexibility and hands-on clinical care. The APP will work in close collaboration with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care for individuals with complex neuromuscular conditions.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant Studies
  • National Board Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner, Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant
  • Active BLS certification
  • Experience in Neurology required, with strong preference for those with clinical experience in neuroimmunology, neuromuscular medicine, or multiple sclerosis

Nice To Haves

  • Previous ambulatory care experience is strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assessment & Management: Perform complete history and physical examinations; document findings in the electronic medical record.
  • Order and collect diagnostic data using appropriate assessment techniques and tools.
  • Act as a first responder for changes in patient status, including urgent interventions.
  • Evaluate and monitor for risks such as medication side effects, immobility, impaired nutrition, and complications related to chronic neurological illness.
  • Diagnosis: Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to diagnose acute and chronic neurological conditions.
  • Order, interpret, and manage appropriate diagnostic testing.
  • Formulate differential diagnoses and identify complications requiring intervention.
  • Plan of Care: Develop and document individualized care plans based on diagnosis and clinical presentation.
  • Utilize evidence-based guidelines in decision-making.
  • Prescribe diagnostic and therapeutic strategies.
  • Perform advanced procedures as credentialed and trained.
  • Documentation: Complete and maintain accurate and timely documentation, including H&Ps, progress notes, discharge summaries, and clinic notes.
  • Ensure compliance with standards of care and documentation regulations.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Maintain effective communication with all members of the healthcare team.
  • Serve as a liaison between the patient, family, and interdisciplinary care providers to promote continuity of care across settings.
  • Professional Practice: Serve as a preceptor/mentor and provide instruction to graduate students.
  • Engage in ongoing education, research, and evidence-based practice initiatives.
  • Attend specialty-specific meetings and Advanced Practice Grand Rounds.
  • Maintain continuing education units (CEUs) and active membership in professional organizations.
