About The Position

VCA Aurora Animal Hospital is expanding and seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our Neurology Service! Our Neurology team supports advanced diagnostics and treatment plans for complex neurologic conditions, including seizures, IVDD, vestibular disease, and neuromuscular disorders. We are looking for a compassionate, detail-oriented Neurology Veterinary Assistant who thrives in a fast-paced specialty environment and is eager to grow in advanced medicine. The Neurology Veterinary Assistant plays a critical role in supporting our Neurologist and Technicians with patient handling, diagnostics, treatments, and high-quality client communication. This position requires strong attention to detail and confidence working with medically complex cases.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of clinical experience as a Veterinary Assistant
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Passion for learning, growing, and contributing to a dynamic specialty team

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate seamlessly with other departments to ensure top-quality patient care
  • Assist Neurology doctors and technicians with exams, treatments, and procedures
  • Safely restrain and handle neurologic and mobility-compromised patients
  • Support diagnostic testing (radiographs, MRI/CT prep, bloodwork, urine collection)
  • Assist with anesthesia prep and recovery monitoring (under direction of CVT/DVM)
  • Maintain accurate medical records and assist with patient flow
  • Prepare surgical/procedure areas, clean and sterilize equipment
  • Provide compassionate nursing care and monitor hospitalized patients
  • Communicate professionally with clients and provide discharge education as directed
