About The Position

As a Neurologist, successful candidates would be expected to participate in the clinical, educational, and research activities at Hebrew SeniorLife, Deanna and Sidney Wolk Center for Memory Health. Clinical cognitive care is provided in the Deanna and Sidney Wolk Center for Memory Health, a multidisciplinary specialty clinic with neurology, geriatrics, psychiatry, nursing, neuropsychology, behavioral health, social work, and administrative support. Contributions to our comprehensive educational programs for trainees include supervising medical students and assisting fellows in Geriatrics. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with professional experience and qualifications.

Requirements

  • MD
  • Successful completion of an accredited Neurology Residency Program
  • Medical License in the US, preferably in the state of Massachusetts
  • Experience working with people living with dementia and their families preferred
  • Expertise in neurophysiology and neuroimaging
  • Clinical and translational research experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Performs cognitive assessments of patients and appropriately identifies and documents problems and issues in the medical record.
  • Collaborates with other professional staff in diagnosing problems, formulating treatment plans and evaluating progress.
  • Performing diagnostic procedures such as Lumbar Puncture.
  • Provides dementia care management to meet the patients' health needs and coordinates care and services to support the needs of patients' caregivers.
  • Monitors for disease progression and complications.
  • Evaluates effectiveness of previously implemented treatment.
  • Participates in multi-disciplinary clinical rounds discussions for best care coordination for patients.
  • Documents patient visits within a timely manner (typically within same day) using the appropriate medical record system.
  • Identifies utilization and service delivery problems and participates in their resolution.
  • Provides education and training to patients/residents, caregivers and staff in relevant topics.
  • Serves on appropriate committees; participates in staff meetings.
  • Assists with implementation for a neuromodulation clinical program.
  • Enhances professional growth and self-development through participation in research activities, other professional activities, educational programs, current literature, in-service programs and workshops.
  • Collaborates with the program medical director and administrative director regarding program development of the center.
  • Collaborates with colleagues within center and across the HSL system to access care for patients.
  • Participates in the development of technology to support cognitive assessments.
  • Participates in grant funded activity currently in session and seeks additional grant opportunities with focus on patient brain health, cognitive management and caregiver needs.
  • Engages in definition of new projects.
