About The Position

The Department of Neurology has an ongoing need for an Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, or Clinical Nurse Specialist) with strong values and unique skills for our Neurohospitalist and Neurovascular Sections. This position will provide both acute and chronic direct inpatient care to Neurologic patients. Successful candidates will have a proven track record in supporting the needs of patients, developing differential diagnoses, and prescribing treatments in collaboration with leading specialty providers. We are seeking individuals who are collaborative, communicative, proactive, caring, detail-oriented, organized, able to think critically, are focused on quality, and dedicated to personal growth. The position is located at the Anschutz Medical Campus. Hours will vary depending on clinical schedules and department/hospital needs (some weekends and holidays) will be determined at time of offer. Specialty This APP will work in the Neurohospitalist and Neurovascular Sections within the Department of Neurology, which consists of several physician providers, fellows, and APPs. This position provides inpatient and emergency department consultations throughout the hospital and will engage and collaborate with colleagues across the Department of Neurology and the University of Colorado Hospital. Requirements

  • Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, or Clinical Nurse Specialist Degree
  • License to practice in Colorado or ability to obtain a license to practice in Colorado
  • Experience and desire to work with patients with chronic, and sometimes severe illness
  • Experience completing documentation and performing tasks routinely assigned in medical settings using complex electronic record systems

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with inpatient care
  • Knowledge of University of Colorado Health Hospitals
  • Background in neuroscience
  • Experience completing documentation using Epic Systems

Responsibilities

  • Screen, evaluate, diagnose, manage medications, and provide disease counseling
  • Acute and chronic inpatient care of patients with neurological disease including symptomatic therapy, disease-modifying therapy, and health maintenance care
  • Serves as first contact for clinician level patient communications
  • Engages in collaborative team-based care to make informed decisions for patient care
  • Supports and engages in continual learning and development among nursing staff, physician assistants, pharmacy staff, medical students, and neurology residents
  • Periodic educational presentation of lectures to patients and others
