About The Position

Franciscan Health Indianapolis Campus 8111 S Emerson Ave Indianapolis, Indiana 46237 The Electroneurodiagnostic (END) Technologist I conducts electroencephalography (EEG) testing and other neurodiagnostic procedures on patients to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of brain, neurological, and/or sleep disorders. The Technologist conducts testing in the outpatient, inpatient hospital or operating room environment, documents results, and reports findings to designated physicians. Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 1 year healthcare experience
  • Registered Electroencephalogram Technologist (R. EEG T) - ABRET Neurodiagnostic Credentialing and Accreditation
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) - American Heart Association

Nice To Haves

  • Certificate Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program (CAAHEP)
  • 1 year Neuro diagnostics (EEG / sleep)

Responsibilities

  • Provide a safe procedural environment by recognizing and responding to life-threatening situations
  • Recognize, document and report critical tests results to the designated interpreting physician.
  • Document pertinent patient medical history, including current medications and circumstances surrounding reported symptoms.
  • Customize the END recording procedure appropriately as per referral evaluation, patient history or observed END waveforms.
  • Differentiate artifacts, troubleshoot possible causes, and document steps to alleviate such artifacts.
  • Disinfect testing room, equipment, and supplies in accordance with departmental/facility infection control policies.
  • Ensure procedures are appropriately logged, charged and distributed to the interpreting physician.
  • Identify and monitor opportunities for performance improvement of services.
  • Determine any contraindications to testing or monitoring protocols based on patient history or physician orders.
  • Conduct EEG, and other neurodiagnostic testing, appropriate to the patient's age and according to departmental policies and procedures.
  • Participate in on-call rotation to provide off shift coverage, including weekends and holidays, as required.
