About The Position

This job is a training position in the neurodiagnostic department. Assists the technologists and physicians by facilitating the workflow of the department. Trains under direct technical supervision of a Neurodiagnostic Technician and supervisor to gain and achieve the required competencies to complete this program and advance to a Certified Neurodiagnostic Technician role. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Enrollment from a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) accredited Electro Neurodiagnostic (END) program.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
  • Registered Electroencephalographic Technologist (R.EEG.T) certification within 24 months of employment.
  • 6 months of related experience in healthcare (preferred).
  • Knowledge of basic infection control standards relating to patient and equipment, including electrodes/probes.
  • Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally.
  • Ability to build and maintain good rapport with patient and staff.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
  • Ability to work effectively through changing priorities.
  • Ability to work flexible schedule (extended shifts, nights, evenings, weekends, holidays, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Documents appropriate history from the patient or chart.
  • Sets-up patients for appropriate study, EEG, EP, NCS, TCD or IOM and measures and applies recording electrodes.
  • Performs diagnostic studies with appropriate documentation and observation of the patient.
  • Troubleshoots equipment and physiological artifacts, distinguishing normal from abnormal, and utilizing appropriate resources to perform study.
  • Communicates appropriately and effectively with the patient and healthcare staff to convey the purpose of the EEG and answers questions regarding the procedure.
  • Participates in tutoring, demonstrating, and mentoring other team members; provides direct technical supervision and indirect technical supervision to assistants and students.
  • Maintains competencies and completes learning milestones outlined by designated training partner for theoretical instruction, clinical rotations, and simulation labs via an online learning platform.
  • Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
