About The Position

Responsible for independently performing outpatient and inpatient EEG on patients greater than 8 years of age. Must be able to work with minimal supervision. This position requires exercising exceptional judgment while performing quality studies according to ACNS guidelines. Strives for superior performance by consistently providing a product or service to leadership and staff that is recognized as ultimately contributing to the patient and family experience. Recognizes and demonstrates understanding of patient and family centered care. Potential for cross training opportunities in the future.

Requirements

  • BLS certification required
  • Registered EEG Technologist (REEGT) required
  • One to two years of experience performing EEG.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of neuroanatomy, physiology and EEG.
  • Must have or have the ability to react appropriately during medical emergencies.
  • Must understand the importance of attendance and punctuality for patient procedures.
  • Ability to operate all aspects of EEG equipment, utilize computer, computerized equipment and telephone.
  • Ability to measure and mark ALL patients using the 10/20 International Marking System.
  • Ability to apply electrodes according to ACNS guidelines.
  • Ability to apply disinfection and emergency protocols.
  • Ability to assess patient condition before, during, and after testing.
  • Ability to recognize normal, abnormal and artifactual wave forms.
  • Ability to use a measuring tape.
  • Ability to visually assess patient condition; receive and interpret verbal communications; make decisions quickly under stress; and palpate pulse.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients, patients' families, visitors, volunteers, physicians, other hospital services personnel, and other disciplines; and instruct patients in activities required for various neurologic testing.

  • Graduate of CAAHEP accredited NDT program preferred

Responsibilities

  • Performs diagnostic EEG as prescribed by a physician.
  • Cleans and maintains areas and equipment.
  • Must be able to implement skills in such a manner as to convey the values and mission of the institution.
  • Demonstrates job related aspects of patient safety to assure a safe environment, safe and effective use of equipment and technology, and decreased risk of potential adverse patient occurrences.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and supports hospital mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality statements, corporate compliance plan, customer service standards, and the code of ethical behavior.
  • Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient.
  • Performs CPR when necessary.
  • Maintains inventory and stocks supplies.
  • Maintains and improves technical competence.
