About The Position

Central Maine Healthcare is seeking a Neurodiagnostic Tech to join the Central Maine Medical Center Neurology team! This is a full-time, 40 hours per week (8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.), benefit eligible position. Requirements

  • High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience as an EEG technician.
  • Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS Certification required.
  • Attends continuing education courses/seminars when available.
  • Registered with the American Board of Neurodiagnostic Technologist (ABRET) or the equivalent (CAET) within 1 year of employment.
  • Current driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Ability to monitor, interpret EEG wave patterns.
  • Ability to engage patients and team members utilizing the CMH Experience Standards.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to use computerized equipment to perform EEG’s.
  • Obtains patient’s medical history from chart and patient; documents patient information on EEG Tech sheet.
  • Demonstrates the ability to do or learn to do VEP’s, BAERS, and SSEP’s.
  • Demonstrates the ability to monitor and interrupt test results in order to make changes or adjustments as needed by the physician.
  • Responsible for recording and labeling all tests. Files all test results according to policy and procedure.
  • Maintains a daily log of all procedures performed.
  • Operates equipment safely and correctly; performs preventative maintenance; reports all malfunctions.
  • Interacts professionally with patients and/or families; treat patients and families with respect.
  • Provides care appropriate to condition and age of patient, neonate through geriatric population.
  • Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
  • Notifies appropriate licensed personnel when patient complains of pain.
  • Educates patient and family about procedure performed.
  • Communicates appropriately and clearly to coworkers, physicians and patients.
  • Maintains a good working relationship within the department and with other departments.
  • Demonstrates the ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.
  • Documentation meets current standards and policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
