About The Position

The Neurodiagnostic Technologist Level 2 performs standard and complex Neurodiagnostic procedures for patients with limited supervision as directed according to established standards and practices. Provides technical assistance and training to ABRET eligible technologists and students. Completes all necessary documentation for departmental records and patient procedures. Supports all functions, goals, and objectives of the department as well as development of any new programs that involve the Neurodiagnostic Lab and Epilepsy Unit. Performs all the duties of the Neurodiagnostic Technologist Level 1.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited Neurodiagnostic Tech Program.
  • At least 1 year experience in electroneurodiagnostic technology.
  • Demonstrates the ability to follow verbal instructions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes the International 10-20 Electrode Placement system to measure, mark and apply electrodes to the predetermined positions on the patient's scalp.
  • Routinely achieves impedance levels below 10k ohms.
  • Performs standard EEG recordings according to the departmental protocols including awake and asleep, bedside, isolation, geriatric, pediatric, neonatal, etc.
  • Adapts methods and instrumentation to obtain optimal results based on the history, clinical observations, and EEG findings.
  • Compiles data on patient's neurologic status and clinical history which may be pertinent to interpretation of the Neurodiagnostic procedure from the chart, patient or family, etc.
  • Completes both technical and professional bills upon completion of study and enters billing number in the record.
  • Documents completion of study in the electronic log.
  • Performs standard Video EEG Long Term Monitoring recording according to the department protocols.
  • Maintains and replaces electrodes as needed to maintain the integrity of the EEG recordings.
  • Performs editing and pruning of studies with limited supervision.
  • Performs filing and archiving of patient records.
  • Performs standard Visual Evoked Potentials, Brainstem Auditory Evoked Potentials, and Somatosensory Evoked Potentials according to ACNS guidelines.
  • Provides supportive patient care and detailed observations of clinical manifestations during seizure and other patient emergency situations.
  • Works in a professional and collaborative manner with all team members and physicians in the delivery of patient care and monitoring.
  • Follows all department protocols.
  • Maintains all neurodiagnostic equipment in good working order.
  • Enhances professional growth and development through annual participation in educational programs, in-services, workshops, and reading current publications.
  • Practices universal precautions and follows all safety and infection control policies.
  • Maintains a safe, clean, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients/families/visitors/team members in accordance with hospital standards.
  • Reports Risk Management concerns.
  • Responsible for completing all hospital and department annual mandatory requirements.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
