About The Position

The Neurodiagnostic Technologist II position involves performing routine and ambulatory EEGs in various hospital environments, including ICU and regular floors, for patients ranging from neonates to adults. The role requires independent work as well as collaboration with a team, focusing on seizure pattern recognition and providing technologist impressions of studies. Responsibilities include obtaining patient history, explaining procedures, ensuring patient safety, and demonstrating knowledge of medications affecting EEG studies. The technologist must be skilled in electrode placement, artifact recognition, and data collection, while also maintaining equipment and ensuring quality data is obtained. The position operates under limited guidance and involves moderately complex situations requiring collaboration with colleagues.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
  • Graduate/Certificate from a Neurodiagnostic Program or sufficient on-the-job experience.
  • 2+ years of Neurodiagnostic/EEG technology experience required.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • BLS CPR certification required within 30 days of hire.
  • Must have R. EEG T. or be able to sit for the ABRET registration exam within 1 year of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with MEG procedures preferred.
  • Previous experience working in a hospital setting preferred.
  • Experience with EPIC and NATUS preferred.
  • Clinical Neurodiagnostic internship preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and ambulatory EEGs for adults and pediatrics.
  • Conduct Long Term Monitoring hookups for all inpatient populations.
  • Work in various hospital environments including ICU and regular floors.
  • Recognize seizure patterns and provide technologist impressions of studies.
  • Obtain relevant patient history to guide testing.
  • Explain procedures to patients and demonstrate respect for them and their families.
  • Follow patient safety guidelines and ensure a safe environment.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of medications and their effects on EEG studies.
  • Apply electrodes using the 10-20 international electrode placement system.
  • Troubleshoot and correct artifacts during testing.
  • Select appropriate sensitivity settings and montages for EEG data.
  • Monitor patients during testing and ensure data validity.
  • Communicate effectively with physicians regarding test results.
  • Maintain equipment and ensure proper care to prevent damage.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff and colleagues to ensure patient satisfaction.
