About The Position

The Neuro Radiographer at Cooper University Health Care plays a crucial role in supporting complex neurosurgery and neurologic diagnostic and intervention procedures. This position involves hands-on operation of advanced imaging and navigation systems in the Neuro lab and hybrid surgical suite, ensuring equipment readiness and assisting in various procedural activities. The technologist will also manage schedules, monitor inventory, and contribute to the successful execution of surgical and diagnostic procedures, thereby enhancing patient care and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • 0-2 years of experience required.
  • Experience in scrubbing and assisting physicians in the performance of Neurovascular Interventions.
  • High School diploma or GED and an Associate's degree from an AMA approved program for Diagnostic Radiology.
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association required.
  • American Registry Radiology Tech license required.
  • NJ Radiology Tech License required.
  • Proficient in multiple imaging, ultrasound, and neuro navigation systems, such as Siemens, Sonosite, Power Injector, Brain lab, Stealth, Fusion, Vision Sense, VTI.

Responsibilities

  • Operates radiology equipment using proper techniques and patient positioning to produce high quality images.
  • Maintains radiology equipment and troubleshoots service problems, making necessary service calls and communicating any issues to incoming staff.
  • Greets patients, identifies self, and interacts with patients to gain trust and ensure patient support.
  • Explains procedures to patients prior to exams.
  • Performs procedures consistent with section protocols.
  • Monitors patient status, tolerance, well-being, and safety throughout and after procedures.
  • Verifies patient identity prior to exams and ensures preparation of the room for procedures before patient arrival.
  • Aids radiologists, doctors, and other team members in completing procedures according to applicable protocol.
  • Responds to emergency situations according to department/hospital policies.
  • Ensures patient safety using binders and safety aides at all times.
  • Performs quality assurance testing consistent with section protocol.
  • Operates ancillary equipment needed to perform examinations and take care of patients' needs.
  • Stays current with new technology and procedures consistent with section protocols.
  • Supports neurosurgery and ENT operating room cases that utilize advanced imaging systems.
  • Sets up neuro/oto cases by loading and merging images in multiple systems and performing pre-use checks of all imaging equipment.
  • Performs registration routines intraoperatively and merges mapping with previous scans to complete the imaging plan.
  • Saves and maintains a repository for stealth scans and manages a database of videos and images from various systems.
  • Performs post-processing for all angio/interventional procedures and maintains appropriate data storage.
  • Troubleshoots and assists surgeons with technical issues related to the systems and the case.
