About The Position

The Neuro Interventional/Stroke Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant position at UHS Wilson Medical Center involves providing comprehensive care for patients with neurovascular conditions. The role requires a strong background in neurology, interventional radiology, or neurosurgery, and emphasizes excellent clinical and critical-thinking skills. The ideal candidate will work closely with the neurointerventional and stroke team, conducting assessments, formulating treatment plans, and managing patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Nursing or a relevant field from an accredited program.
  • Current, unrestricted Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) license and certification.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in neurology, interventional radiology, or neurosurgery.
  • Strong knowledge or interest in neurovascular diseases, interventions, and procedures.
  • Exceptional clinical and critical-thinking skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities for collaborating with the healthcare team and educating patients.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Proficiency in utilizing electronic medical record systems and other healthcare technology.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying abreast of advancements in neurointerventional care.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough neurovascular assessments, including history taking, physical examinations, and interpretation of diagnostic tests.
  • Formulate accurate diagnoses and develop appropriate treatment plans for patients with neurovascular conditions, such as strokes, aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations (AVMs), and vascular stenosis.
  • Perform outpatient clinic visits on new, existing, and post-procedure patients to coordinate their care in coordination with an Attending physician.
  • Collaborate with the neurointerventional team to develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical findings, imaging results, and patient preferences.
  • Monitor and manage patients' post-procedure, assessing their response to treatment, identifying complications, and initiating appropriate interventions.
  • Evaluate and manage potential neurological complications, such as vasospasms, hemorrhages, and infections.
  • Provide patient education on post-procedure care, medications, lifestyle modifications, and follow-up requirements.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, interventional radiologists, neurosurgeons, anesthesiologists, and critical care nurses, to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Participate actively in multidisciplinary conferences and contribute to treatment planning discussions.
  • Provide consultation and guidance to nursing staff, residents, and other healthcare professionals regarding neurovascular care.
  • Participate in research initiatives and quality improvement projects to advance neurointerventional care and enhance patient outcomes.
