About The Position

The Neuro Certified Surgical Technologist at Memorial Hermann Health System is responsible for providing expert perioperative patient care, particularly in neuro-specific procedures. Requirements

• Graduate of a Surgical Technologist Program.
• Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Certification as a Surgical Technologist by the National Board of Surgical Technology & Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).
• 2+ years of neuro-specific experience, including Neuro Craniotomy-Tumor and Neuro Spine.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in elective and emergency surgical situations.
• Ability to act as a role model and resource for other staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert perioperative patient care through the use of equipment and instrumentation.
• Function as a scrub assistant to the physician during operative and/or invasive procedures.
• Demonstrate knowledge of aseptic technique and advanced surgical techniques for all clients undergoing elective and emergency situations.
• Verify the availability and functioning of supplies, instruments, and equipment prior to surgical procedures.
• Ensure safe care to patients by adhering to policies, procedures, and standards of care.
• Promote individual professional growth and development by meeting continuing education requirements and serving as a mentor to less experienced staff.
