About The Position

Cox Communications is seeking a Network Technology Technician I to join our Technical Operations team in Harahan, LA. This full-time position requires working on-site with no remote option. The technician will be responsible for installing, disconnecting, and troubleshooting video, high-speed internet, telephony, and automation services. The role involves proactive and reactive maintenance of Hybrid Fiber Coaxial (HFC) networks, maintaining and repairing equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety guidelines. The technician will also be responsible for educating customers about their services and promoting additional Cox services.

Requirements

• High School diploma/GED with 5 years of experience in related field; OR 7 years of equivalent experience in lieu of a diploma or certification.
• 18 years of age.
• Valid state driver's license and a good driving record.
• Minimum of one year of direct customer service experience.
• One year of work experience in a comparable field (e.g. related hands-on trade role).
• Demonstrated proficiency in Core Technician skillsets.
• Certifications and licenses, as required by state and municipal laws.
• Successfully meet (and maintain) additional background check requirements for specialized projects/services.
• PC and Windows software skills.
• Stable work history.
• Able to work required shifts and overtime (if necessary).

Nice To Haves

• Any level degree or certification beyond High School diploma/GED +3 years of experience in related discipline desired.
• 5+ years of experience specifically in-service installation and repair in multiple service provider and/or telecommunications environment.
• Spanish proficiency desirable in some locations.

Responsibilities

• Install, disconnect and troubleshoot video, high-speed internet, telephony and automation services.
• Perform proactive/reactive maintenance to restore HFC networks to Cox performance specifications.
• Maintain and repair equipment within the HFC distribution system.
• Requisition equipment and supplies from the warehouse and stock vehicle as needed.
• Maintain company trucks and other equipment per service requirements and safety guidelines.
• Drive a company vehicle between office and/or home, warehouse and work sites.
• Monitor the Workforce Administration System (WFA) throughout the day.
• Communicate with dispatch for help and/or status on service requests.
• Consult with supervisors and other technicians for advice and aid as needed.
• Educate customers about their existing services and promote other Cox services.
• Attend training that may include refresher training and product and service updates.
• Use small hand tools, power tools, and test equipment.
• Work with alarms, low voltage electricity and color-coded wires.
