About The Position

Vision Net, Montana’s largest state-wide network and premier data center provider is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Network Technician to install, maintain, and troubleshoot telecommunications systems and network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with fiber optics, routers, switches, and other networking equipment while ensuring optimal performance and reliability of Vision Net’s network.

Requirements

  • Telecommunications technologies (Voice, Data, IP, Ethernet, Photonics, Security).
  • Network protocols (DWDM, BGP, TCP/IP, SIP, OSPF, SNMP, MPLS).
  • Industry best practices and standards.
  • Industry regulations and compliance requirements.
  • OSS/BSS systems and network management tools.
  • Microsoft 365 and other relevant software.
  • Associate degree or technical certification in Telecommunications, Networking, or related field (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
  • 3-5 years of experience in telecommunications or network support
  • Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, Palo Alto Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE)/Administrator (PCNSA), or BICSI.
  • Any combination of the above requirements or equivalent education will be considered
  • Full-time, rotating shifts (weekends, evenings, overnights, holidays).
  • Rotating On-Call duty may also be required.
  • Frequent in-state travel and overnights.
  • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
  • Occasional outdoors work in adverse weather conditions.
  • Occasional confined spaces conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain telecommunications equipment including routers, switches, modems, and structured cabling.
  • Perform diagnostics and repairs on network hardware and software issues.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on network infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with engineering and IT teams to support network upgrades and expansions.
  • Document network configurations, maintenance activities, and service reports.
  • Respond to service tickets and troubleshoot connectivity issues in a timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and industry regulations.
  • Assist in planning and implementing network security measures.
  • Provide technical support and training to end-users as needed.
  • Work in a safe and effective manner.
  • Maintain confidentiality of company information and records when required.
  • Travel to remote locations for work with scheduled and non-scheduled notice.
  • Work independently and within a team.
  • Hold a valid Montana driver’s license, and safe driving record.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned.
