Piper Companies is seeking a Jr. Network Engineer for a long term contract opportunity to join an established Healthcare Organization located in Hershey, PA. This position is 100% onsite. The Jr. Network Engineer will be responsible for assisting in the maintenance and implementation of network systems. The ideal candidate will have a passion for network technology, strong problem-solving skills, and a desire to learn in a dynamic environment.

  • Assist in configuring and maintaining network equipment such as routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot network issues to ensure minimal downtime.
  • Perform routine network upgrades and maintenance under supervision.
  • Support network security measures by configuring access control lists (ACLs) and managing VPNs.
  • Assist with the documentation of network configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Help set up and maintain wireless networks and resolve connectivity issues.
  • Collaborate with the IT team to implement network improvements.
  • Provide technical support for network-related issues and resolve them in a timely manner.
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning and execute backup strategies.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and best practices in networking.
  • Basic understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.).
  • Experience with Fluke testing tools for cable testing and network configuration.
  • Familiarity with network hardware such as routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Knowledge of network security concepts including VPNs, ACLs, and firewalls.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and take direction from senior engineers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and tools.
  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+ or Cisco CCNA are a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
