About The Position
The Network Technician will be responsible for the installation, testing, and certification of structured cabling within a data center environment. This role requires a strong understanding of both single and multi-mode optical cabling, as well as the ability to inspect and clean installed optical cabling. The technician will also be tasked with installing copper cables in accordance with IEEE and BICSI cabling standards, ensuring that all installations meet the required specifications. Testing of installed cables will be conducted using a Fluke Versiv Mainframe, and the technician will be involved in decommissioning obsolete networking infrastructure as needed. In addition to cabling responsibilities, the technician will work with elevated and underfloor cabling trays and perform physical installations of networking equipment, which includes rack and stack activities. The position supports facilities management, site security, and project engagement, with a strong commitment to customer satisfaction and a drive for perfection in all tasks. The technician must be self-motivated and capable of working independently to achieve success. The role is an hourly position based on experience and skill level, with the potential for long-term contract extension or hire. Standard work hours are Monday to Friday from 6:00 pm to 2:00 am, although shifts may vary to accommodate changes in site status. The technician will also be responsible for patching cabling between network equipment and the customer's network, installing power cables, troubleshooting network equipment, and completing Move, Add, Change (MAC) requests within defined service levels. Additional responsibilities include providing break-fix services for network infrastructure, supporting carrier testing of circuits, and assisting with various facilities management efforts.
