About The Position

As part of our Events Technical Services (ETS) team, a Network Technician I is responsible for managing the design and installation of SMT technical operations at events. You will use IT hardware and software knowledge and a customer service mindset to ensure the expectations of our clients are met and exceeded. While in the office, you will prepare, test and ensure the appropriate technology is issued to the appropriate event. This position requires reporting into our Jacksonville, FL office when not traveling. While on-site at events, you will be a key player in the set-up and smooth operation of our hardware and software. This role travels 120-140 days a year, all travel costs are covered by SMT, and you will be working on-site at some of the biggest sporting events in the world!

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, IT, or related field or a combination of relevant experience and certifications.
  • 1-3 years of network setup, administration, and hardware experience.
  • Relevant Certifications:
  • Cisco Certified Entry Networking Associate (CCNA)
  • Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA)
  • CompTIA A+
  • CompTIA Network+
  • Proficiency in cabling technologies & installation for local area networks.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows in a client/server/domain environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to obtain a passport and willingness to travel worldwide 120-150 days/year.
  • Capability to lift 50 pounds daily.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and constantly reposition self to lay equipment at various locations.
  • Ability to work holidays and weekends.

Nice To Haves

  • Cisco Switches & Routers configuration or deployment experience is a plus.
  • Basic scripting or network automation knowledge.
  • Fluency in foreign language helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting Event Project Managers in planning and event deliverables.
  • Reviewing customer sites for network design.
  • Traveling to client sites for setup: network, cabling, hardware, and software used at events.
  • Identifying and resolving network issues related to SMT operations.
  • Documenting processes, procedures, and train non-technical staff as directed.
  • Fostering positive relationships with clients and your SMT team.
  • Upholding information security best practices on site at client events.
