Through providing technical expertise and customer support, our Network Technicians create meaningful connections with customers that create long-term relationships. This position will be filled within the area of Bentonville, AR. Candidates must reside within a 30-mile radius of this area. This is a field based position that will require working in the field.

Requirements

Ability to perform OTDR tests and understand results
Ability to understand CLR/DLR and engineering job packs
Ability to distinguish colors in use of color-coded cable
Ability to use equipment with maximum load capacity of 275 lbs.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work aloft
Ability to successfully complete required safety training
Ability to work assigned schedules and extended hours including day, evening, weekend, and holiday hours
Ability to respond to after hour callouts
Ability to complete battery and generator testing
Basic technology and math skills
Valid driver’s license and safe driving record
Knowledge in the following areas: Cyan nodes
Knowledge in the following areas: SONET OC3/12/48 installation, testing, and troubleshooting
Knowledge in the following areas: WDM/CWDM/DWDM installation, testing, and troubleshooting
Knowledge in the following areas: Fiber training
Knowledge in the following areas: Previous central office (CO) training
Experience with the following vendors/ models of transport equipment: Optelian WDM/CWDM/DWDM
Experience with the following vendors/ models of transport equipment: Juniper
Experience with the following vendors/ models of transport equipment: Fujitsu
Experience with the following vendors/ models of transport equipment: WideBank DCS
Experience with the following models/ vendors of test equipment: Viavi Smart OTDR
Experience with the following models/ vendors of test equipment: Viavi 5800
Experience with the following models/ vendors of test equipment: Midtronics battery test set
Associate's Degree in a technical discipline and 2-3 years technical/telephony experience; or 4+ years of directly related telephony experience, or an equivalent combination of education and directly related telephony experience. This is a safety sensitive position.

Responsibilities

Perform routine installation, maintenance, and repair activities for network systems including voice, data, network, transport, and video equipment
Complete post installation tests for call processing functionality and AMA testing
Coordinate central office/network equipment, card/SFP insertions, translations, fiber cross-connects and inside wiring activities
Perform OTDR tests and understand results
Fixed wireless installation and maintenance
Safely operate and maintain clean and organized company service vehicle
Work in both inside and outside environments
Provide stand-by and on-call coverage
Maintain central office and remotes including routine and preventative maintenance items
Complete necessary safety training and follow safety standards and regulations
Report to the Network Infrastructure Local Manager
