About The Position

This entry-level position is part of the Network Operation Center (NOC) team, where NOC Technicians are responsible for providing monitoring services for all State of Alabama LAN/WAN data circuits. The primary role involves monitoring communications networks and equipment, as well as other systems, to identify alarms, alerts, and faults. When issues are detected, technicians must respond promptly to ensure that service or equipment faults are reported immediately, adhering to standard Infrastructure Monitoring and Management procedures. This position emphasizes the importance of maintaining professional and credible relationships with network vendors, state agencies, and Client personnel to enhance customer service and facilitate effective problem resolution. In addition to monitoring, the NOC Technicians are tasked with creating and updating information in the ServiceNow application. This includes managing incidents, requests, problems, configuration items, change requests, and knowledge documents. The goal is to provide timely and accurate scheduling, remediation, resolution information, and status updates. Follow-up communication is crucial; technicians are expected to engage with all customers associated with assigned tickets, ensuring client satisfaction with the resolution before closing the ticket. The role also involves providing technical support using various tools such as CA Spectrum, CA Performance Center, Solar Winds, TruView, Splunk, and ServiceNow. This position is designed for individuals who are eager to learn and grow within the IT field, particularly in infrastructure and network environments. The role will convert to the merit system after an initial budgeted period of six months, with the potential for renewal at the end of each fiscal year. Candidates should be prepared for in-person interviews and must be willing to work on Federal and State holidays, as well as alternating weekends. Training will occur during the day shift, transitioning to a third shift schedule after training is complete.
