About The Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) is seeking a Network Systems Engineering Intern to support enterprise IT and network operations within a mission-focused environment. This internship provides exposure to professional systems administration and network operations while working alongside experienced engineers. Due to the nature of defense programs, hands-on access may be limited; learning will occur through guided tasks, observation, documentation, and supervised support activities.

Requirements

  • Candidates should demonstrate a thorough understanding of engineering technology.
  • Engineering Interns must be enrolled in an accredited degree program in Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other related scientific or technical discipline with a preference for a standing of a sophomore or higher.
  • Junior or Senior pursuing a Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Network Engineering, or related field
  • Basic familiarity with Windows or Linux and introductory networking concepts
  • Strong interest in systems or network engineering
  • Willingness to learn and work in a team environment
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

  • Support IT and network teams with operational and administrative tasks
  • Observe and assist with Linux, UNIX, and/or Windows system administration
  • Gain exposure to enterprise networking concepts and architectures
  • Assist with documentation, asset tracking, and inventory
  • Learn structured IT processes in a regulated environment
