Under general supervision of Infrastructure Engineering Manager, this position supports the ITS-Infrastructure Engineering group and their interface with other campus systems and services; provides network infrastructure and associated systems analysis, modification, maintenance, installation and design and interfaces with internal ITS staff and the user community on the use of these systems and infrastructure. Designs and supports enterprise-level routers, switches, firewalls, access points, wireless controllers, and other related infrastructure and systems.  This position also maintains and supports assigned systems and services to ensure system availability, integrity, and reliability.  #CalPolyITS This position is eligible for remote work pursuant to Cal Poly's Telecommuting and Remote Work Guidelines and the CSU policy requiring that all work be performed within the State of California.   • Knowledge of and expertise in enterprise level network infrastructure and associated services such as DNS/DHCP/IPAM (DDI), routing and switching, firewalls, load balancing, or Wi-Fi.
  • Thorough working knowledge of current network routing protocols for data systems such as ARP, IP, IPSEC, TCP/UDP, HTTP, OSPF, BGP, etc.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated experience configuring network infrastructure in cloud environments (e.g. AWS Virtual Private Cloud, Azure Virtual Network) as well as private cloud environments (e.g. VMWare).
  • Demonstrated ability with installing and designing network configuration management and monitoring tools in a large-scale enterprise DevOps environment (e.g. Aruba Central, Cisco Prime, Alcatel-Lucent Omnivista, Palo Alto Networks Panorama, Infoblox).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and plan upgrades to network infrastructure and system configurations, resulting in improved service delivery and efficiency.
  • Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in a related field and four years of relevant experience. Additional experience which demonstrates acquired and successfully applied knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
