About The Position

The MIL Corporation is seeking a Network/Systems Administrator (Network/Systems Administration, Associate) to support a Federal Government client in Patuxent River, MD. The Network/Systems Administrator will provide support to the government client and interface with RDT&E and other support organizations. The Network/Systems Administrator will apply system engineering and computer networking principles to the development, design and integration of hardware and software systems associated with local, regional and wide area networks and systems that process and route voice, video, data, and imagery information. This position currently requires an on-site schedule, with 5 days’ on-site and is eligible for Compressed Work Schedule (CWS). Schedule is subject to change based on company/contract requirements.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 7 years’ experience working independently and/or as part of a team to configure, install, support and maintain network or system hardware and software infrastructure
  • Knowledge of basic concepts, terminology, and operations of a wide range of communications media (computer and telephone networks, satellite, fiber, wireless)
  • Ability to develop and write Standard Operating Procedures for technical and non-technical consumers as well as diagrams
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to move/lift up to 50 lbs
  • Must be flexible with work schedule to include occasional weekends

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity DoD DISN network infrastructure
  • Cisco CCNP Certification or higher
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Visio
  • Extensive experience with IPSEC, VPN, QoS, Multicast, OCSP, BGP, and L2TP
  • Familiarity with Linux - RHEL

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain an organization's local area network (LAN), data communications network, operating systems, and physical and virtual servers
  • Perform system monitoring and verify the integrity and availability of hardware, network, and server resources and systems
  • Review system and application logs and verify completion of scheduled jobs, including system backups
  • Analyze network and server resource consumption and control user access
  • Install and upgrade software and maintain software licenses
  • May assist in network emulation/virtualization, analysis, planning, and coordination between network and data communications hardware and software
