About The Position

The Network/System Support Specialist is responsible for troubleshooting and maintaining the network and computer systems for NBEC as part of the NWOCA program. This role acts as the primary liaison between school personnel and NBEC, focusing on the design, installation, operation, and maintenance of the NWOCA network infrastructure. The specialist is tasked with managing systems for NWOCA and its member districts, emphasizing cost savings and delivering value-added services.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of network protocols and technologies.
  • Experience with network equipment configuration and management.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical personnel.

  • Experience in a K-12 educational environment.
  • Familiarity with network security practices and tools.

Responsibilities

  • Configure, monitor, and maintain network equipment, including routers, switches, firewalls, and network management tools.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity issues.
  • Field technical support requests and phone calls in a pleasant, helping manner.
  • Maintain up-to-date network documentation and inventory.
  • Conduct regular network configuration and apply updates, patches, and upgrades based on the organization security program.
  • Collaborate with the Network Operations Supervisor and IT Services Team to provide support and collaborate with K-12 Technology Directors in all areas of technology.
