About The Position

IT Services is seeking applicants for network support technicians that will support the campus data network and will serve on the network engineering team. The network support technician will assist network engineers in maintaining the campus network by fulfilling service and incident tickets, helping with projects, and responding to building network outages. The typical work may include troubleshooting device network onboarding, installing & activating new network ports, configuring network switches, and other client network support tasks. The position requires on-campus shifts. A successful candidate will be a high-aptitude individual, who shows a passion for information technology, excels with challenging demands, and has excellent time management skills. On-the-job training on specific processes and technologies will be provided.

Requirements

  • The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma

Nice To Haves

  • Entry level network skill or vendor certification; JNCIA, CCENT, Network+ or equivalent
  • Previous work experience in an IT support role
  • Basic functional knowledge of IP networking and network operating systems

Responsibilities

  • Process and resolve network support tickets
  • Proactively monitor wired and wireless network systems and services
  • Respond to monitored and reported network incidents according to standard operating procedures
  • Perform planned maintenance and upgrades
  • Coordinate with other IT services personnel on incident response, including escalation to network engineers
  • Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
