About The Position

A Network Specialist will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the client's network security infrastructure, protecting against threats like malware, hacking, and breaches by configuring firewalls, IDS/IPS, while also performing incident response, and developing security policies to safeguard sensitive data and ensure network resilience.

Requirements

  • Associates of Science in Computer Science or a related field
  • Three or more years' work experience or related position
  • Proven experience developing, operating and maintaining network systems
  • Extensive knowledge of operating system and database security
  • Proficiency in networking technologies, network security and network monitoring solutions
  • Knowledge of security systems including anti-malware applications, content filtering, firewalls, authentication systems and intrusion detection and notification systems
  • In-depth knowledge of security protocols and principles
  • Critical thinking skills and ability to solve complex problems
  • Deep knowledge of networking (TCP/IP), operating systems, security protocols, and SIEM/EDR platforms.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and attention to detail for threat analysis.
  • Scripting/Automation: Proficiency in scripting (Python, PowerShell) to automate tasks.
  • Threat Intelligence: Understanding of current threats (malware, phishing, APTs) and attack vectors.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal skills for documentation and collaboration.

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications: Relevant certifications (CompTIA Security+, CISSP, GIAC) are often required or preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Take over primary ownership of all development and production of network environments for Customer locations and internal company use.
  • Setup and Configure Network Equipment (Firewalls, Switches, Access Points, Failover Routers) for Customer locations and internal company use.
  • Assist in creating test/sandbox network environments that can be used for internal and customer configuration and rules change testing.
  • Deliver installation assistance to both internal technicians and clients.
  • Offer real-time support to internal technicians and telephone support to customers.
  • Execute testing, scheduling, and deployment of firmware and security updates across all devices.
  • Maintain tracking and management of deployment and changes in adherence to ITIL best practices.
  • Conduct continuous monitoring of security events detected by hardware appliances.
  • In collaboration with management, implement incident response protocols to mitigate threats on customer systems.
  • Work with the security group to ensure all customer systems are patched within the target window.
  • Assist in endpoint protection configuration, monitoring, and incident response.
