About The Position
The Department of Innovation and Technology (IT) is seeking a Network Services Supervisor for the Public Safety Communications Division. This role is pivotal in supervising staff within the division, which is responsible for the maintenance and repair of the County's 800 MHZ mobile and portable radio systems. The Network Services Supervisor will operate under general direction, planning, organizing, coordinating, and supervising the daily operations of the radio repair shop. This includes overseeing the programming, maintenance, and repair of over 16,000 end-user mobile and portable subscriber radios. In this position, the supervisor will provide administrative support and management direction, ensuring that the workgroup operates efficiently and effectively. Responsibilities include conferring with staff on operational matters, serving as a technical advisor, coordinating repair activities, and overseeing system upgrades. The supervisor will also be tasked with resolving personnel issues, developing and implementing policies for long-range network plans, and ensuring the integrity and security of the network systems. Additionally, the role involves evaluating new technologies, making recommendations for hardware and software acquisitions, and assisting in the development of the annual division budget. The Network Services Supervisor is expected to lead efforts to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction among a diverse customer base of first responders and governmental service providers. This includes creating and delivering formal presentations, keeping abreast of technological changes, and recommending training courses for staff. The position is characterized by its supervisory nature, providing guidance and assistance to staff members in their professional development.
