About The Position

The Network Senior Director of Communications provides strategic leadership for enterprise communications, storytelling, and brand alignment across all current and future affiliates. This role leads the development and execution of integrated internal and external communications that strengthen organizational culture, advance mission-driven messaging, and elevate the organization’s voice across healthcare and human services environments. Reporting to the Network Chief Human Resources and Compliance Officer, the Network Senior Director oversees a small, high-performing communications team and serves as a strategic advisor to senior leaders on messaging, reputation management, and stakeholder engagement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field required; advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum of 8 to 10 years of progressive communications leadership experience, preferably within healthcare, human services, or mission-driven organizations
  • Demonstrated expertise in strategic communications, brand storytelling, and change communication
  • Experience supporting executive leadership and navigating complex, multi-stakeholder environments
  • Strong writing, editing, and narrative development skills
  • Experience in integrated healthcare or nonprofit environments
  • Knowledge of compliance-sensitive communications within regulated industries
  • Ability to balance strategic vision with hands-on content development
  • Strong emotional intelligence and collaborative leadership approach

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive communications strategy that supports organizational growth, transformations, and affiliate integration.
  • Lead enterprise storytelling that highlights workforce impact, clinical innovation, community partnerships, and mission outcomes
  • Provide executive counsel on messaging, change management communications, and sensitive organizational initiatives
  • Establish communication standards, editorial voice, and brand consistency across affiliates
  • Design and implement internal communication strategies that strengthen engagement, transparency, and culture
  • Partner with executive and operational leaders to translate strategy into clear workforce messaging
  • Oversee development of leadership messaging, workforce campaigns, and enterprise-wide updates
  • Ensure communications reflect trauma-responsive, people-first language and inclusive leadership values
  • Guide external communications, media relations, and public messaging that enhance reputation and community trust
  • Serves as a forward-facing ambassador for the organization’s brand and narrative, leading strategic marketing campaigns, visual design, and storytelling efforts that bring the mission to life across communities and stakeholders.
  • Partners across departments to shape messaging that not only informs but inspires, positioning the organization’s work in a way that strengthens community connection, attracts talent, and reinforces organizational identity.
  • Align marketing and communications efforts to support growth, recruitment, and brand awareness
  • Oversee development of digital content, social media strategy, and marketing materials that reflect organizational priorities
  • Support crisis communications planning and response
  • Provide communications leadership across multiple affiliates, ensuring consistent messaging while honoring local identity
  • Support new affiliate onboarding with integrated communication strategies and brand alignment
  • Collaborate with clinical, compliance, HR, and operations leaders to ensure messaging reflects regulatory and mission-driven standards
  • Supervise and mentor a small communications team, fostering creativity, accountability, and strategic thinking
  • Manage editorial planning, content calendars, and workflow prioritization
  • Oversee vendor partnerships, marketing tools, and communications platforms as needed
  • Monitor communications effectiveness using analytics and workforce feedback
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on organizational narrative, strategic positioning, and leadership visibility
  • Prepare executive-level messaging, presentations, and thought leadership content
  • Translate complex organizational initiatives into accessible, compelling communication
