About The Position

Shimadzu Scientific Instruments is seeking a Network Security Engineer to join our Information Technology team. This role is central to designing, protecting, and optimizing enterprise-wide infrastructure across the U.S., ensuring performance and security in support of mission-critical operations. You will serve as a hands-on SME in enterprise networking, cybersecurity, and identity/access management. The ideal candidate will bring depth in Cisco technologies, Microsoft Azure, endpoint protection, and compliance frameworks (NIST, CMMC). You'll collaborate across teams, solve complex technical challenges, and play a critical role in both daily operations and long-range infrastructure planning.

Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in networking and cybersecurity roles.
  • Proficiency with Cisco firewalls, routers, switches, and Microsoft Intune/Azure/AD.
  • Working knowledge of security protocols, scripting (PowerShell), and Microsoft 365.
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as NIST SP 800-171, CIS Controls, and CMMC 2.0.
  • Certifications such as CCNA, Microsoft Azure, or other cybersecurity credentials are strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Configure, implement, and manage LAN/WAN systems, firewalls, NAC, and intrusion detection/prevention solutions.
  • Monitor systems for vulnerabilities, performance issues, and external threats; respond with appropriate remediation.
  • Support incident response, forensic analysis, and root cause remediation.
  • Partner with leadership to align infrastructure decisions with risk management and compliance (NIST SP 800-171, CMMC 2.0, JSOX).
  • Develop and maintain documentation for operations, DR planning, and audit readiness.
  • Lead or contribute to projects involving network upgrades, cloud migrations, and vendor integrations.
  • Mentor junior staff and serve as a technical resource to cross-functional partners.
  • Coordinate with third-party contractors and vendors as needed.
