About The Position

Accelecom is a leading provider of high-speed fiber optic network solutions, delivering cutting-edge connectivity to businesses, government agencies, and communities. With a focus on innovation and reliability, Accelecom empowers organizations with scalable, secure, and high-performance networking solutions. We are expanding rapidly and seeking an experienced Network Planner to drive the growth and evolution of our network infrastructure. The Network Planner will be responsible for the ongoing administration and optimization of Accelecom’s network infrastructure. The role will report to the Director of Service Delivery

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in fiber network management, including IRU negotiation and leasing.
  • Deep understanding of fiber network infrastructure and industry best practices.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Strong project management abilities and the capacity to prioritize competing demands.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulations and laws governing fiber network management.
  • Superior attention to details.
  • Ability to work independently while also providing a large degree of transparency and collaboration.

Nice To Haves

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as Telecommunications or Electrical Engineering, is desired but not required.
  • The ideal candidate should also have a strong understanding of the fiber network landscape in the southeastern USA, including key players, infrastructure, and relevant regulations.
  • While the role is based in Sandy Springs, Georgia, near Atlanta, there is flexibility for hybrid work arrangements, and strong candidates seeking fully remote positions will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Track all IRU and lease arrangements over their full life cycle for optimal return, efficacy and currency.
  • Negotiate and manage Indefeasible Right of Use (IRU) agreements and leasing contracts with customers and vendors.
  • Collaborate with legal counsel to ensure timely renewal of existing agreements and compliance with applicable regulations and laws.
  • Analyze existing IRU and lease agreements to determine optimal strategies, such as build vs. buy decisions.
  • Ability to understand fiber cable and splice documentation.
  • Ability to understand fiber close-out packages to include OTDR and power level testing.
  • Develop and maintain fiber optic network plans and designs for both new (greenfield) and existing (brownfield) sites.
  • Perform network capacity analysis and forecasting to ensure scalability for current and future demand.
  • Utilize fiber network planning tools, such as 3GIS or similar platforms.
  • Collaborate with GIS Admin Team to ensure uniformity in systems.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including internal teams, vendors, and customers.
  • Manage and prioritize projects related to fiber network infrastructure improvements and expansion.
  • Evaluate and identify new network facilities and designs in conjunction with Network Engineering.
  • Manage contract and relationship with colocation providers.
  • Identify and design next generation network upgrades as required.
  • Collaborate with network operations and engineering teams to identify areas for improvement and expansion.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements related to fiber network management.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to network planning activities.
  • Work closely with sales teams to identify markets where network expansion could generate revenue growth.
