About The Position

The Network L2 Engineer will maintain the computing environment by identifying network requirements, installing upgrades, and monitoring network performance. This role requires a strong understanding of both physical and logical network structures, as well as the ability to make decisions in the field. The engineer will be responsible for migrating between 74 - 94 offices from a legacy network to the client site, ensuring that all network specifications are met and performance issues are addressed.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a network administrator role
  • Hands on experience in networking, routing and switching
  • Excellent knowledge of best practices around management, control, and monitoring of server infrastructure
  • Experience with firewalls, Internet VPN's remote implementation, troubleshooting, and problem resolution is desired
  • Ability to set up and configure server hardware
  • Familiarity with backup and recovery software and methodologies
  • Great at organizing, prioritizing and multitasking
  • CCNA, Network+, CCNP, CCDP, CCIE or equivalent
  • BSc degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent
  • Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from three-year College or technical school with an emphasis in electronics required; Bachelor's Degree preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of SDWAN (Cloudgenix Palo, desirable)
  • Familiarity with Wireless systems (Mist, desirable)
  • Cisco Certifications (desirable)

Responsibilities

  • Establishes network specifications by conferring with users; analyzing workflow, access, information, and security requirements; designing router administration, including interface configuration and routing protocols.
  • Provides the relevant resource to plan, configure, and migrate between 74 - 94 offices from the legacy network to the client site.
  • Evaluates network performance issues including availability, utilization, throughput, goodput, and latency; plans and executes the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of equipment; defines network policies and procedures; establishes connections and firewalls.
  • Maintains network performance by performing network monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshooting network problems; escalating problems to vendor.
  • Secures network by developing network access, monitoring, control, and evaluation; maintaining documentation.
  • Prepares users by designing and conducting training programs; providing references and support.
  • Upgrades network by conferring with vendors; developing, testing, evaluating, and installing enhancements.
  • Meets financial requirements by submitting information for budgets; monitoring expenses.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
  • Protects an organization's value by keeping information confidential.
  • Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
