About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Network Installation Technician to support the United States Military Entrance Processing Command (USMEPCOM). As part of ITility’s enterprise IT support to USMEPCOM, a Major Command of the U.S. Department of Defense responsible for screening and processing applicants into the U.S. Armed Forces, you will play a critical role in maintaining the network infrastructure that enables recruiting and training operations across 67 Military Entrance Processing Stations (MEPS) nationwide. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of hands-on experience supporting enterprise network installations and upgrades within government or regulated environments. This role requires frequent travel (estimated at 75% travel) to Military Entrance Processing Stations (MEPS) nationwide to replace, upgrade, and validate network equipment in data centers and wiring closets. Candidates must be highly detail-oriented, comfortable working with structured cabling, racks, and network hardware, and capable of documenting work performed through clear and timely trip reports. The position also requires the ability to independently plan and book travel in compliance with Department of Defense travel regulations, while coordinating effectively with program leadership to ensure site activities are executed safely, accurately, and in accordance with established standards. Experience with Cisco networking equipment is required, and experience with Palo Alto firewalls is a plus. The Passion and Compassion That Powers Both Responsibilities The Network Installation Technician position is a skilled and detail-oriented individual supporting the enterprise network installation, upgrade, and sustainment activities across Military Entrance Processing Stations (MEPS) nationwide. This role is hands-on and mission-critical, requiring travel to customer sites to install cable, test, and troubleshoot network equipment in secure, regulated environments.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship required; active DoD Secret clearance preferred
  • Minimum of three (3) years of hands-on experience installing network equipment
  • Demonstrated experience installing network equipment and dressing cables to professional standards
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to plan and book travel in compliance with Department of Defense and ITility travel regulations
  • Strong written communication skills, including the ability to produce clear and accurate trip and status reports
  • Ability to read, interpret, and execute work based on technical drawings, network specifications, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Physical ability to stoop, kneel, and crouch for extended periods
  • Proficiency using hand and power tools commonly associated with network and infrastructure installation
  • Ability to submit travel receipts accurately and timely in accordance with company and Department of Defense travel policies
  • Ability to maintain accurate daily timekeeping and expense reports in Costpoint
  • Ability to take direction from management and maintain task schedules and priorities
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • High level of attention to detail to ensure accuracy and quality of work
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to speak clearly and effectively, listen actively, and seek clarification when needed
  • Proven dependability, including following instructions, responding to management direction, and consistently meeting commitments

Nice To Haves

  • Industry certifications such as CCNA, Network+, or PCNSA
  • Experience working in DoD, federal, or other regulated environments
  • Familiarity with data center standards and cable management best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Rack, install, and configure network and infrastructure equipment, including but not limited to firewalls, network modules (SFPs), and Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPSs), in accordance with manufacturer instructions, approved designs, and project documentation
  • Perform installation, tracing, testing, and troubleshooting of fiber optic and Ethernet cabling
  • Execute installation and upgrade activities during approved maintenance windows and after-hours, as required, to ensure zero downtime during MEPS operational hours
  • Diagnose and resolve network connectivity issues using approved network and cable diagnostic tools
  • Patch network connections to and from equipment and dress patch cables neatly and professionally in racks and cabinets
  • Work within data centers and wiring closets while adhering to site-specific standards and documentation
  • Collaborate closely with IT staff, engineers, and project teams to support scheduled upgrades and initiatives
  • Provide timely input for progress, status, and trip reports documenting work performed
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and secure job site at the end of each shift
  • Work efficiently while maintaining high quality, safety, and security standards
  • Follow all applicable safety, security, and change management procedures
