About The Position

Overview Responsibilities of this role are to maintain cable systems, by installing, programming, and upgrading cable infrastructure, perform major and minor preventive maintenance and repairs by fixing cabling system issues. Identify, track and remove abandoned cable. Test every newly installed or relocated cable in accordance with established procedures. Keep cable neatly tied and bundled while maintaining safety standard. Develop in-depth knowledge of National Building Codes and standards. Technicians must install closet hardware, including connecting blocks, fiber enclosures, racks, backboards, and patch panels. They should be able to work on all aspects of telecommunication industry when required, such as wiring practices, color code and terminations, the ability to understand signal flow and signal path, and DSL and Ethernet connections. Responsibilities Maintain cable systems by installing, repairing, programming, and upgrading cable infrastructure Liaison between building facilities and commercial contractors, approving cabling for remodels and new construction Perform major and minor preventive maintenance and repairs by solving cabling system issues. Keep cable tied and bundled while maintaining safety standard. Identify, track and remove abandoned cable Test every newly installed or relocated cable in accordance with established procedures Develop in-depth knowledge of National Building Codes and standards They should have experience bending and running conduit, with digital multi-meters Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1+ years of experience in cabling systems, and/or other related fields such as, Twisted Pair Copper dmarc extensions, DS3 Coax with BNC dmarc extensions, Installation of Cat 5e/6 Structured Cabling Systems according to industry standards such as EIA/TIA, BICSI, NEC
  • Knowledge of using diagnostic tools, service aids, and product schematics, to assess and resolve equipment and system failures
  • Identification of various types of voice and data circuits
  • Installation of voice switches
  • Installation of data network hardware
  • Wireless Access Points, Power over Ethernet (Installation)
  • Understand, adhere to, and promote environmental, health & safety policies
  • Familiar with industry tools and equipment
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of National Building Codes and standards
  • Fundamental computer, network and electronics skills and knowledge
  • Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to install, configure, troubleshoot, program, and replacing parts as need
  • Ability to maintain and complete accurate record keeping and processing of paperwork
  • Must work well independently, as well as follow directions
  • Ability to handle more than one responsibility at a time
  • Ability to work under deadline pressures
  • Strong communication skills, organizational skills, and time management
  • Ability to build rapport with clients

  • Operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, and test equipment
