About The Position

RCS is seeking a Network Infrastructure Monitoring SME to provide strategic technical leadership and hands-on engineering support for the implementation and optimization of the Clients enterprise network monitoring platform. This role will be central to enhancing visibility, performance, and operational responsiveness across a complex, multi-site WAN environment. The Lead will engage cross-functional stakeholders, lead monitoring integrations, and drive innovation in proactive network operations. This position requires the candidate to meet specific Security Clearance obligations to work hybrid in Washington, DC.

Requirements

  • Clearance: Active Public Trust Clearance or the ability to obtain
  • U.S. Citizenship required (NO EXCEPTIONS).
  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 10+ years of progressive IT experience in network engineering, infrastructure, or systems integration roles.
  • Expertise in WAN architectures, network performance analysis, diagnostics, and operational monitoring strategies.
  • Proven experience deploying and managing enterprise-scale monitoring solutions across distributed environments.
  • ThousandEyes monitoring tool strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of routing, path analysis, host monitoring, and alert configuration.
  • Experience preparing technical documentation in support of governance, ATOs, or compliance requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with enterprise IT and network monitoring platforms such as SolarWinds, ThousandEyes, Datadog, Splunk, AppDynamics, PRTG, Nagios, or similar observability tools.
  • Familiarity with log aggregation, SNMP polling, synthetic monitoring, and infrastructure performance analysis.
  • Masters Degree in Computer Science, IT, or related discipline (may be considered in lieu of required experience).
  • Relevant certifications such as: Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), SolarWinds Certified Professional (SCP), Splunk Core Certified User, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, CompTIA Network+, or vendor-specific monitoring certifications.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code and automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform).
  • Experience supporting federal or enterprise IT transformation initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the architecture, design, and implementation of solutions to improve the Clients enterprise network monitoring capabilities.
  • Integrate and optimize WAN monitoring tools to deliver actionable insights and enable proactive detection of network performance issues.
  • Design and maintain advanced dashboards, alerting configurations, and analytical views based on stakeholder requirements.
  • Collaborate with technical teams and business units to identify network monitoring needs and translate them into scalable solutions.
  • Serve as a liaison between operations teams, leadership, and platform vendors to support monitoring configuration, testing, and rollout.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including technical configurations, diagrams, and operational status reports.
  • Facilitate knowledge transfer sessions, briefings, and training to ensure platform adoption and effective usage across Client teams.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in network diagnostics, platform tuning, and performance enhancement efforts.
  • Support transition planning and documentation handoffs between contract teams to ensure continuity and knowledge retention.
