About The Position

LCRA presents an exciting opportunity for individuals like you. We are seeking a driven senior telecommunication technician to join our team! In this role, you will contribute to the installation, configuration, and management of our diverse telecommunication networks. These networks include digital radio, microwave, and fiber platforms, supporting LCRA technologies such as Private LTE (PLTE), MW, DWDM, MPLS, LAN/WAN, VOIP, and wireless technologies. The systems you will work on are integral to the smooth operation of various functions at LCRA, including electrical substations, water services, wholesale power, and enterprise operations. Requirements

  • Five or more years of experience in one or more of the following networking technologies: WAN - MPLS, LAN - Route/Switch, DWDM, RF/Microwave Radio, 700/900MHz Trunked Radio (LMR) and/or LTE, fiber splicing or other relevant experience.
  • A bachelor's, associate degree in related field, or industry professional-level certification may be substituted for certain years of experience.
  • Driver's License

Nice To Haves

  • Networking Certification in Cisco, Nokia, Juniper, or equivalent such as CCNA, NRS1, JNCIA is highly preferred.
  • Degree(s) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or other IT/Telecom related field.
  • Ciena DWDM Optical certification (OC-A), Aviat Network Associate (ANA)
  • Experience in Microwave RF, DWDM, Routing/Switching L1-L3, and LMR Land Mobile Radio/ trunked radio.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hardware installation, troubleshooting and repair daily.
  • Convey effective communication and be proficient using Microsoft applications, various vendor communications software i.e. putty, secureCRT, TFTP servers in order to install and remove hardware configurations on equipment.
  • Work with AC/DC voltages and test equipment used to install, test and fix equipment installed.
  • Perform proficiency in splicing optical fiber OPGW and ADSS used by LCRA's telecommunication network utilizing the following test equipment: OTDR, Fiber Scope, Spectrum analyzer and RF Sweep test gear.
  • Ability to install, commission, upgrade, integrate and solve problems; Cisco, Juniper, Nokia routers, switches and firewalls.
