The Network Engineer at ServiceNow will be responsible for maintaining and deploying modern computer networks, ensuring they meet business and technical requirements. This role involves troubleshooting network issues, engaging in outage mitigation, and collaborating with project managers to meet timelines. The engineer will also analyze network performance proactively to prevent outages and participate in software upgrades and device maintenance.

  • Maintain and deploy modern computer networks based on business and technical requirements.
  • Partner with project and program managers to meet overall timelines and resolution of issues.
  • Operate and troubleshoot networks to identify and resolve issues quickly.
  • Take a lead role in the engagement and mitigation of outage causing events or issues.
  • Validate problem descriptions and perform detailed problem diagnosis; track and update problems in trouble-ticketing system.
  • Perform non-critical investigations into functionality that is not working as desired.
  • Engage deeply in the sustainment function to proactively analyze network parameters such as capacity and availability to ensure issues are fixed before they cause an outage.
  • Review, consult and prepare for planned change introduction to production environment.
  • Partner with teams to plan and execute software code upgrades and device maintenance.
  • 2+ years experience in networking with a solid foundation in routing, switching, security and load balancing.
  • 2+ years of firewall administration. Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, Fortigate.
  • 2+ years of load balancer administration. F5 BigIP, NGINX, NetScaler.
  • 2+ years of experience in working on Internet and data center networks.
  • Experience with RedHat/CentOS Linux.
  • Knowledge of virtualization and container management. Kubernetes, OpenStack, Linux KVM.
  • Scripting and automation: bash/python is a plus.
  • Experience with high performance computing. GPGPU, Infiniband, RoCEv2 is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD): using DevOps, Bit Bucket, GitHub.
  • Solid understanding of and experience with network technologies: BGP, OSPF, HSRP/VRRP, IPSEC, SNMP, ECMP.
  • Deep, hands-on experience with TCP/IP protocols including capturing and analyzing traffic with Wireshark and/or other tools.
  • Familiarity with Cisco IOS and JunOS operating systems required.
  • Strong communication skills and empathy for customers.
  • Ability to learn new technology in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to partner with peers who are globally distributed.
  • Passion for customer experiences and focus on delivering high quality support.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity.
  • Base pay of $91,800 - $142,200, plus equity (when applicable) and variable/incentive compensation.
