About The Position

We are seeking a Network Engineer to join our team supporting the United States Postal Service (USPS). In this role, you will be traveling to USPS locations across the United States to serve as the site lead during new equipment installations and perform network cutover activities once installation is complete. You will also remotely support onsite teams with the network cutover process for life cycle replacement of wireless and/or wired infrastructure at customer locations, when not actively running in-person installs and cutovers. Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in LAN/WLAN networking
  • Familiarity with Juniper, Cisco, and Aruba equipment
  • Familiarity with network design and implementation methodology and concepts
  • Highly motivated, self-learner, and technically inquisitive
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience leading or supporting teams, projects, and/or programs
  • Ability to split time between working remotely and onsite at customer locations as dictated by program requirements
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • USPS clearance

Nice To Haves

  • IT certifications or vendor specific certifications from Juniper, Cisco, and/or Aruba relevant to the role are preferred
  • A degree in IT, computer science, business management, or a related field is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Must be able to obtain a USPS security clearance
  • Lead a small team of equipment installers at customer locations throughout the United States
  • Conduct network discovery using USPS systems to determine equipment needs at customer sites
  • Perform hands-on configuration of wired infrastructure including switches and wireless access points across multiple manufacturers (Cisco, Juniper, Aruba, or others as assigned)
  • Manage the network cutover between the legacy and new infrastructure following an established procedure
  • Develop/update procedures relevant to the program
  • Ability to work both within a team and individually with minimal supervision
  • Manage communications between our team and the field technicians
  • Take direction from, and provide updates to, the program leadership team
  • Maintain 100% accountability of government furnished equipment
  • Complete reports and other project documents in a professional, timely manner, as required
