About The Position

The Network Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, security, and ongoing optimization of the organization’s enterprise network infrastructure. This role requires deep technical expertise in wired and wireless networking, advanced Layer 2 and Layer 3 technologies, and modern encryption and security standards. The position is hands-on and strategic in nature and is not a Tier 1 or Tier 2 support role.

Requirements

  • Extensive hands-on experience as a Network Engineer in enterprise or large-scale environments
  • Deep understanding of Cisco networking technologies and platforms
  • Strong expertise in Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking concepts and protocols
  • Advanced knowledge of wireless networking design, deployment, and troubleshooting
  • Solid understanding of network security principles and encryption standards
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues
  • Experience designing scalable, secure, and highly available network architectures
  • Bachelors of Science in an Information Technology related field with 6 years of experience or
  • Associates Degree in an Information Technology related field with a CCNA certification and 7 years of experience or
  • CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) certification or N+ certification with 10 years of work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain enterprise-class network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, WLAN, and VPN environments
  • Configure, manage, and troubleshoot Cisco networking equipment, including switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless controllers
  • Architect, implement, and support Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking solutions, including VLANs, trunking, STP, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP), and subnetting
  • Manage and optimize wireless networking environments, including access point design, coverage planning, performance tuning, and security
  • Implement and maintain network security controls, including firewalls, VPNs, ACLs, and network segmentation
  • Ensure compliance with modern encryption and security standards, including AES, IPsec, TLS, and WPA2/WPA3
  • Utilize network and system monitoring tools to track performance, availability, and capacity, and recommend and implement improvements for efficiency and reliability
  • Troubleshoot complex network and system issues and perform root-cause analysis across multiple network layers
  • Lead network upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure improvement initiatives
  • Assist with system and server upgrades and preventive maintenance on physical and virtual servers, operating systems, and core IT infrastructure
  • Provide Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 technical support for network and system issues, working directly with end users to resolve issues in a timely and professional manner
  • Collaborate with IT leadership and cross-functional teams to align network architecture with business and operational needs
  • Document network designs, configurations, procedures, and technical standards
  • Support infrastructure projects through collaboration, knowledge sharing, and training with IT team members
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the IT department and organizational goals, including maintaining a working understanding of Anderson’s core IT competencies
