About The Position

GDIT is seeking a Network Engineer to support ETM activities at the Pentagon. This role involves reviewing and evaluating IT infrastructure and systems to ensure adherence to company and customer quality standards. Responsibilities include designing, planning, and building communications networks, configuring routers, switches, firewalls, and VPN concentrators, and coordinating LAN/WAN hardware/software improvements. The engineer will monitor the network, provide innovative technical solutions, plan enhancements, analyze customer requirements, and perform maintenance and upgrades. The position also entails maintaining network integrity, ensuring policy compliance, managing system backup and recovery, coordinating hardware/software acquisition, and evaluating new communications technologies. This role requires full-time onsite presence at the Pentagon, and telecommuting is not allowed.

Requirements

Active Top Secret/SCI security clearance
IAT Level II certification
ONE of the following Networking Certifications: Cisco (CCNA/CCNP), Juniper (JNCIA/JNCIS/JNCIP), Aruba, Brocade
Willing to obtain an Aruba Certification within 90 days from start of employment (if candidate does not already hold this certification)
2+ years of experience in network administration
Bachelors’ Degree in a related field, OR work experience in lieu of degree
Must have hands-on experience/knowledge with Aruba networking systems
Experience with routing protocols
Experience with Layer 3 communications/switches
Willing to report full-time onsite at the Pentagon in Arlington, VA
US Citizenship Required

Responsibilities

Reviews and evaluates information technology (IT) infrastructure and systems to ensure adherence to company and customer quality standards.
Designs, plans, and builds communications networks.
Configures routers and switches, and firewalls for LAN and WAN systems and VPN concentrators with appropriate network engineering and communications protocols.
Coordinates LAN/WAN hardware/software improvements and/or enhancements.
Monitors the network utilizing industry leading technologies.
Provides innovative methods and technical solutions using the engineering design process.
Plans implementation of enhancements.
Analyzes customer requirements and provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems.
Performs maintenance and upgrade of networks including servers, routers, switches, firewalls, remote access systems, and networks.
Maintains network integrity and connectivity while ensuring compliance with policies and maintains system backup and recovery capability.
Coordinates the acquisition of hardware and software as well as subcontractor services as needed.
Creates plans and configures systems for data communication networks.
Evaluates new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.
Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.
Designs and builds the hardware and software components for computer or telecommunications networks.
Provides guidance and leadership to less-experienced network personnel.
