About The Position

If you are a Network Engineer professional looking for an opportunity to grow, Emerson has an exciting role to share with you! As a Network Engineer, you will develop configurations for network and network security equipment for industrial control systems, and you will work as an integral part of a global team that is responsible for design, configuring and configuration automation, testing, installing, debugging, maintaining, and supporting networks related to the Ovation control system. This position will be based in our Cranberry Township, PA office. The Ovation distributed control system (DCS) is built on a network spanning one or more plant sites, and connects controllers, consoles, and support equipment together for communication of real time plant data, historical data, configuration information and other support data. The network supporting the Ovation DCS is connected to other networks, systems, and devices, including other industrial control systems, cyber security monitoring systems, plant data historians for performance analysis, remote access locations and other site-specific assets as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Telecommunications, or related Engineering discipline.
  • 5 years of experience in networking or industrial communications
  • Practical experience configuring network routers and switches, firewalls (including next-generation firewalls), VPNs, and related security/policy management components.
  • Working knowledge of network security devices and methods, including secure communication practices, encryption, and protective architectures for industrial environments.
  • Experience with routing and switching protocols to support redundant, fault-tolerant network topologies.
  • Familiarity with LAN and WAN technologies (such as wireless, MPLS, and Metro Ethernet) and troubleshooting physical-layer issues involving copper and fiber-optic media.
  • Demonstrated understanding of VPNs, secure communication methods, encryption, and PKI; experience with scripting or programming languages; and knowledge of network protocols (for example, STP, RSTP, and similar technologies).
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse, global environment—collaborating with remote teams, operating independently when needed, and contributing as a reliable team member.
