About The Position

Peraton is seeking a driven Network Engineer to join our dynamic Network and Unified Communications Architecture team of network and UC engineers in Washington, DC. Peraton has served as the prime contractor for this program since its inception in the 1980's. We provide high-level government leaders with reliable secure voice, video, and fax communications anytime, anywhere, in any environment in support of day-to-day operations. We support a secure, worldwide, high-performance communications network comprised of real-time interactive applications allowing complex national and worldwide communications. Peraton provides the O&M of the network infrastructure and its components. We provide integration for development of hardware and software solutions, and engineering support for the delivery of system, network, software, and security solutions. In this role, you will provide Tier II Escalated support for in-depth troubleshooting, advanced problem resolution, remote diagnostics and systems analysis, and escalate unresolved issues to Tier III engineers.

Requirements

  • An active/current TS/SCI Security Clearance is required.
  • Must be able to work shift schedule (Panama) supporting 24/7 operations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (or similar technical field) and five (5) years relevant experience; or a master’s degree and three (3) years of relevant experience; or a PhD and zero (0) years of relevant experience; or a High School Diploma/GED and 4 years of additional relevant experience in the above-cited duties may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
  • A current/valid CCNA certification.
  • Experience and understanding with Cisco and Juniper devices, VLANs, VPNs, LAN/WAN technologies, and/or routing & switching.
  • Experience in two (2) to three (3) of the following areas: Network troubleshooting Routers/switches Cisco IOS/Junos OS Firewalls NetScout/Wireshark or any other packet investigation/analysis tools SolarWinds monitoring or database tools Call Manager & unity or other OSCP, DNS, QoS, VPN
  • Operational experience with local and wide area network infrastructures (including routers, firewalls, switches, servers, and related hardware).
  • Previous experience supporting a Government and/or Department of Defense customer.

Nice To Haves

  • A current/valid IAT LVL III Certification (Security+CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP, GCED, GCIH, and CCSP).
  • Ability to generate documentation that describes standard operating procedures, which will be used by help desk personnel.
  • Experience with application of DoD IAVAs and STIGs.
  • Proficient in network monitoring/management systems familiarity.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong investigative drive and listening skills, self-motivated individuals.
  • The ability to work under pressure and be flexible with their time.
  • Ability to prioritize and document tasks is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate LAN/WAN performance and capacities to identify problem areas or bottlenecks.
  • Perform a variety of network management services related to the operation, performance, or availability of data communications networks.
  • Responsibility for overall performance and availability of networks
  • Provide LAN/WAN support with skill in network analysis, integration, and tuning.
  • Analyze client LANs/WANs, isolate source of problems recommends reconfiguration and implementation of new network hardware to increase performance.
  • Implement networking technologies and concepts (such as Layer 2 and Layer 3 protocols).
